A note of simplicity and hope

If I had to think about a word - just one - to be an essential word in the repertoire of every day, that word would be a feminine noun of four syllables: sim-pli-ci-ty.

For different reasons, I believe it's time to learn to live without complicating: to want less, consume less, demand less, charge less, since simplifying is perhaps the most appropriate strategy for achieving peace and satisfaction.
Of course, a simple life (and this does not mean being naive) claims other terms that we keep, in general, at a distance of our routine: silence and gratitude.

In this world, considering the so very brief hours, those who love life can practice the habit of disconnecting themselves from distractions (the cell phone, for example) and to listen attentively to silence. Because these silent moments are able to help us think about our own ideas and feelings, revealing to us the small things that renew our joy and keep, in our hearts, waves of gratitude – the necessary ignition for a more beautiful and healthier life.

As for the word empathy, let us pay attention: empathic people are usually excellent companies. They are cooperative, supportive, and they respect others’ opinions and beliefs; they are aware that there is suffering for everyone and therefore there are losses that make anyone’s world cloudy and sad. In addition, we must give up cursing and nourishing greed and (not confessable) envy. And in our difficult days, in which we become taciturn or unbelieving, we need to make room to patiently enjoy a walk, for solitary exercise teaches about ourselves, our difficulties and fears, promoting balance also touched by our angelic pilgrims.

A suggestion? It is possible to guide our daily acts with an essential noun to those who wish to consider themselves civilized and a worthy Christian: gentleness. To be gentle, which belongs to sensitive and delicate souls, implies knowing how to behave in public as well as making good use of the golden rule: treat each other as we would like to be treated... After all, who would not beg to be supported, understood, forgiven?

Everyone, of course, suddenly has the need of simplicity. Because we all have to live and grow - simple like birds and trees...
But to live a simpler, less troubled life, it would be necessary to think of life in another way, away from this absurd custom that the human being, young or old, has of possessing unnecessary things... It would be required to do something discreet and simple; yearn for less appearance, cultivate more friends, flowers and gardens, participate in something fruitful and just, that keeps the soul creative and clean, raising the degree of love on Earth.
And as an intelligent attitude to become aware of what happiness is, let us cultivate hope, proper of the one who has the knowledge of eternity and recognizes the value of small things - just a rose on the side of the road or a handful of joy with no special reason.
The possibility of hope reminds us without fear that the Kingdom of Christ is not of this world and yet we simply remain confident!
Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
