Event marks the 150th anniversary of Cairbar Schutel’s birth

A Spiritist for 18 years, Rose Elaine Rodrigue Batista Silqueira (photo)was born in the Brazilian city of Andradina and lives in Matão, both in the state of São Paulo. She is a teacher with degrees in Mathematics and Education and a Master’s Degree in Education. She is a volunteer worker at the Nosso Lar Spiritist Centre  in Matão, where she gives talks, works in mediumship groups and coordinate mediumship study groups.

She is an enthusiastic researcher of Spiritism and has joined other brothers and sisters in the city to organised the event that marks this year the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great Spiritist pioneer, Cairbar Schutel. The event will be hosted in August, as Rose Elaine explains in the following interview:

How has the event been named and when will take place?

It is called “Espíritas em ação, pela caridade, paz e união” (“Spiritists in Action, for Charity, Peace and Union”) and will take place on August 4th this year at the SOREMA Club.

Which group is organising it?

The event was planned by the Nosso Lar Spiritist Centre and embraced by the local Spiritist federation, USE Matão. All Spiritist centres in the city are involved in the organisation.

How many people will take place.

We will have 600 places for people from Matão and its region.

Who are the speakers invited?

Ala Mitchel.

Anete Guimarães.

Artur Valadares.

Elizabete Lacerda & Alex.

What time will the event start and end?

It will star at 08h30 and finish at 19h0 on August 4th.

How will people be able to enrol?

Each Spiritist group in Matão and the region will have a person responsible for the enrolment process. More information can be obtained on the following phone number, with Rose: + 55 16 996207404.

This event will come a month before the Cairbar Schutel Annual Meeting, which focuses on the 150th birth anniversary of the great benefactor. In which way do the two events complete each other?

We have so much to celebrate this year as Cairbar, the great Brazilian pioneer of Spiritism who prepared Matão to receive information about the immortality of the soul. He made us aware of the fact that we are Spirits in a physical body. Thanks to Cairbar Schutel, our city is now a reference in the Spiritist Movement and is able to host events that  help people’s reflections, help them strengthen their reasoned faith and the transition to a new era of Regeneration, which will come from each one of us. These will be two events in harmony with the good, the beautiful and great teachings.

Is there any charity initiative linked to the event?

When people enrol they will be asked to donate 10 reais ($2.50; £5) and non-perishable food. The money will be given to three charitable organisations in the city: Comunidade Espírita Cairbar Schutel, Casa da Sopa e Associação de Combate ao Câncer.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Our main aim in organising this even is to help unite the different Spiritist groups, to give an opportunity for all to see and hear the great names of Spiritism, providing them with information and sharing with us their studies and experiences. We must remember the Spiritist motto: “Spiritists, love one another and educate yourselves”. We invite all your readers to enrol too and join us in this wonderful opportunity.
