The different princess

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful, kind and very happy princess.

She liked to walk around the castle garden with the little dog Pepe. The two were inseparable because the princess was blind and Pepe was the guide dog. Although she did not see anything, she knew she was beautiful and had the brightness of the stars in her hair. Since her childhood, her mother spoked, talked about her delicate face, about the brightness the angels took from the stars and put them in her hair. She used to take her little hands and put them on her face so she could see her own features. She asked to do the same thing on the face of her mother and father, and so she became familiar with the features of the faces.

Through affectionate words, the mother described the world, and she could thus know the flowers and associate them with the perfume, feel the softness and delicacy of the silk, the harsh touch of the trunk of the trees.

In childhood, the mother was the eyes that guided her through the castle, guided her and gave her security. As she grew older, she felt the need for more independence and freedom. The father, understanding his daughter, hired a teacher to teach her to read in braille. They also provided a guide dog for the princess, who was very pleased.

Like every princess, she learned to dance and whirl around the halls of the castle. Very generous, she accompanied her mother on visits to the needy and always had a smile and a friendly word for everyone. Children ran to meet her and were affectionately embraced, because the princess had a special affection for the little ones.

The other girls in the kingdom disdained the princess and made vicious comments about her handicap, betting she would never set a prince or someone to love and be loved.

- Imagine a blind princess. - Some said.

- I hate dogs. - She heard some young girls.

- Poor her! Always accompanied by the dog. - Said others.

The beautiful young lady was aware of the malicious comments and suffered in silence.

Then she asked Mom:

- Will I meet my prince?

- Of course, daughter. You are beautiful, sweet and generous. You will meet a prince with a noble soul, and his love will be greater than prejudice. - Replied the mother with love.

Time was passing and the princess was more and more independent, her ears were clear, she picked up and understood common movements by sound, touch and smell.

One day the beautiful prince came to the castle with his father and met the princess, whom he immediately fell in love with, but was sad and frightened to learn of her handicap. Time passed and he realized how much she was independent and hardworking. He saw that she learned to read and write, and above all, she was a kind and generous person.

He talked with his father about the love he had for the princess, and he fully supported him. At dinner that night, the prince asked her to marry him.

The two of them married in the castle gardens decorated with scented flowers.

When the king announced to his subjects the arrival of the grandson, they were all amazed. They never imagined that a blind person could realize dreams, help children and all the people of the kingdom.

The princess had accepted with resignation the hard test and seized the opportunity for her personal growth and evolution. She knew, surely, that God is infinitely good and just and knows our needs.
