Spiritism fruits are excellent

The confrere André Luiz Rosa was interviewed this edition by Orson Peter Carrara. He was born in Rolândia and is settled in the city of Valinhos (SP); he emphasizes in his speech something that is recognized as important for the development and strengthening of the spirit movement: good publicity of spirit teachings, not only within the spirit center but also mainly beyond the walls of our institutions.

This, the result obtained by the Spirit Week of Valinhos, whose initial objective was to gather the spirit houses of the locality and, with that, to promote the spirit movement in the city.

Born in the year 2002, the Week of Valinhos reached in 2017 to its 16th edition and its fruits were, however, far beyond the expectation.

In fact, there is nothing easier and more practical to accomplish the goals mentioned by the confrere. The Spirit Weeks, which are more traditional and much older in the Minas-Rio axis, really favor the integration of Spirits and the spreading of Spiritism.

Similar effect to that quoted by the interviewee was verified in our city, where in the year 1992, ten years before the creation of the week of Valinhos, the Spirit Week of Londrina was held for the first time.

Many people who knew nothing about Spiritism became interested in the doctrine from the contact provided by the event, and not a small number of those who became Spirits and even leaders of Spirit houses.

One might say: "Spiritism has no concern for proselytizing. Why then does it spread outside the boundaries of the Spirit House?"

Actually, proselytizing is not and never was the goal of Spiritism; at least, it is what Allan Kardec, the codifier of the Spirit doctrine, thought, what can be given in view of the following dialogue that he inserted in his book What is Spiritism:

Visitor
 - Do not you seek proselytes?

Allan Kardec – Why do we seek to make you a proselyte when you do not want to be? I do not want to force any conviction. When I meet people who sincerely wish to be educated and give me the honor of asking me for clarifications, I am happy and I fulfill a duty by answering them to the limits of my knowledge; But as for the antagonists who like you have deep-seated convictions, I do not try to take them away since the number of those who are well-disposed is great, so that we may lose our time with those who they are not. I am sure that in the face of the facts, conviction will come sooner or later, and that unbelievers will be swept away by the torrent; for now, some supporters, more or less, change nothing in the weighing; so that you will never bother me to attract to our ideas those who, like you, know the reasons they have for escaping from them. (What is Spiritism. Chpater I: Small spirit conference. First dialogue).

To divulge spirit teachings, as opposed to proselytizing, is to allow those interested in knowing Spiritism to have the opportunity to do so.

If the spirit spreading is done in a neutral place - outside of the spirit environment - no one will be embarrassed to attend, nor obliged. The person will go, if he wants to go. He will accept the information and arguments of the Spirit, if they persuade him.

As for us, we understand that allowing others to know what they have done and done to us, immense good is also a form of charity, as Emmanuel has observed in a text that has reproduced in this magazine countless times:

"... let us study Allan Kardec, at the clarity of the message of Jesus Christ, and in the example or the attitude, the action or the word, let us remember that Spiritism asks us for a Permanent Species of Charity - The Charity of Itself". (From the book Study and Live, psychographed page by the medium Francisco Cândido Xavier)
