Roque Jacintho, a great spirit and a memorable writer

One of the interests in this edition is the interview given through Orson Peter Carrara by Mrs. Maria Dirce Antunes Jacintho, who was the companion and wife of Roque Jacintho, remarkable writer and unfortunately the new generations barely know him.

Roque Jacintho is the author of the first childhood spirit book in the world; let us a wide work not only to juvenile public but many other subjects. Altogether, as Maria says, it was 130 books published by him.

His works to children were a great success. Many children’s generations learnt Spiritism first lessons reading his books, among them the inevitable spot is The Bad Wolf Reincarnated, first child spirit book in our globe. This book can be found in the publisher Luz no Lar – Light at Home, founded by him.

Roque Jacintho had good humor and his lectures used to reveal this feature of him. Although curious and inexplicably his work devoted to children began to suffer a tough restrain, especially at the end of eighties, communion restrain mainly by people who were working in children’s spirit education activities, in spirit midst is called child evangelization.

One of the reviews – amazingly – was connected to the fact that animals do not talk!

Those critics forgot to tell it to known writers like Monteiro Lobato and Walt Disney. After all, Emília was a simple doll and Donald Duck nothing more than a bird…

With regard to his pioneering work - on the evil wolf that regenerated throughout the reincarnation process - the criticism was even more foolish, since it would not be so, in the view of those people, the evolutionary process, as if we knew exactly how it happened the course of the soul of an animal until it reaches the condition of the higher animals and, finally, the human species.

Roque Jacintho used to answer to those reviews naturally, but for sure, there should be a little bit of sadness in him facing grudge from those who could not do anything better had the pleasure to criticize people’s work.

The interview with his dear companion deserve to be read and shared by all those who recognize the value of a noble soul that interlocked his life to enlightening service of human creatures, to begin, as Spiritism suggests, with the young who are our children.
