In the glory of
the Lord

Step by step, we are overcoming great challenges. We departed from the deity and we will return to it. The path is long, sometimes full of stones, and sometimes covered by flowers. There are times when tears run down our face, and other times we feel involved by the subtle scent that guides us. We will thus become the heroes of a battle in which the winner will be love in us and for us. The difficult thing is to believe in this, and so we arm ourselves with the tools available and capable of shredding and destroying, the worst of which is our feral tongue that stretches from us and reaches the farthest, bothering, affecting his personal, psychological and family comfort. This is still man’s own in his earliest stages when he only observes the first fruits of the Kingdom of God itself.

It is necessary to move forward, to be surprised, to exchange neural connections, using neuroplasticity to leverage spiritual progress. The present time is full of wise and forceful information about life and its dynamics. The time for "I do not believe" is past. To discredit presupposes a new, different and innovative proposal and not the simple negation without meaning or attributes that sustain it. Neuroplasticity, also known as neuronal plasticity, refers to the ability of the nervous system to change, adapt and shape itself at a structural and functional level throughout neuronal development and when subject to new experiences.

Previously, the information was that we did not change. What had been established and stored in the brain would repeat itself for life. Thus, a tree that was born crooked would never straighten its trunk, according to the popular saying. Nothing would be able to undo that piece of wood mistakenly shaped by Nature. And the crooked person would have to be accepted or eliminated, depending on the time and civilization to which it belonged. Rules, laws, dogmas, habits, customs, culture... If he did not adapt, he was considered the black sheep, the ugly duckling, and the headless mule that served to frighten more than to help. And those classified like this made no effort to change, since they were already labeled like this and carried this mark forever.

According to Andre Luiz, the brain is the nest of the mind

According to Science, neuroplasticity is a coordinated, dynamic and continuous process that promotes the remodeling of the neuro synaptic maps to small, medium and long term, to perfect and / or to adapt the function of the neural circuits. It is known that the neural circuits are formed from our choices and experiences, needs and achievements. Thus, we all model ourselves according to our perspectives and archives of the unconscious. However, currently we have a proposal of remodeling. Neuroscience tells us that "...this remodeling compromises the basic state of neuronal activity and promotes a rupture in the balance of normal brain activity". It happens at the level of the release of neurotransmitters that act in the changes of the formations of the neural networks. As a piece of information, we have put it here that the neurotransmitter, or chemical agent made by a presynaptic cell, crosses the synapse, ensuring the transmission of the nerve impulses, carrying communications for the brain to function as wished by the Spirit.

Science continues to inform us that this plasticity occurs at various levels and includes numerous events, from the opening of certain ion channels that promote depo-larization of neuron membranes, formation of action potentials, and the remodeling of synaptic structures (cellular / molecular level) to the reorganization of the neural circuits and associated synaptic maps (level of circuits), creating more lasting neuronal connections. It is a whole machine at the service of the mind, because, according to Andre Luiz, the brain is the nest of the mind. Thus, the mind which, according to Emmanuel is "the mirror of life", would be subdivided into an office and its various sections of service, in which the will is the enlightened and vigilant manager, ruling the sectors of mental action. In this way, when the will is hardened by reason after the laborious and multi-millenarian journey of the being through the dark provinces of instinct, it can work wonders in the fields of action, reaction, construction and remo-deling.

Through its will, the Spirit changes the course of its life

"The brain is the dynamo that produces mental energy, according to the capacity for reflection that is its own; nevertheless, in the will we have the control that directs it in this or that way, establishing causes that command the problems of destiny" - informs Emmanuel in chapter 2 of the book Thought and Life. The will is, according to him, "the determining impact". Thus, through its will the Spirit changes the course of its life and, regarding this matter, it is sovereign. Jesus said: "Let your yes be yes, and your no be no”.

At this moment He confirmed our sovereignty in the choices, yet He guided us in regard to the same choices by directing them to two options: or the right choice, or the wrong choice. And this is what we do continuously: we choose right or wrong and we respond accordingly. Choosing is directly linked to our beliefs, which manifest in the brain through neural circuits. Now the self-knowing Spirit, the seeker of his advancement, applies within himself renewed lessons and experiences for his constant improvement.

Thus, it constantly needs to modify its neural connections in order to have a glimpse of new premises and / or horizons. Then there is a mechanism that promotes such changes. Science tells us that it is in the shift of the synaptic transmission force, modeled by the rate at which neurotransmitters are released and captured, that lie the basis for the plasticity phenomenon. This dictates the molecularly complex structural and functional changes at the synaptic level that is reflected in the dynamics of the neural networks. Neuroplasticity is therefore closely related to brain restructuring promoted by coordinated changes, by the command of the Spirit, in the synaptic structures and associated proteins that lead to the remapping of the neural circuits and, consequently, to the processing of information and memory formation.

We can change in the time and at the time that we wish

At first these terms seem difficult to assimilate; we preserve them in order to promote the thought of seriousness that is being studied by neuroscientists. It is known today that we can perform about sixty trillion synapses in our brains. This enables us to live in the world of relationship, enriched and appropriated information that leads us to renewable learning, made possible by the plasticity of these synapses. I.e., nothing is rigid. We can change in the time and at the time we wish. The famous jargon "I am like this, I will live like this and die like this" only applies to those who sincerely desire it.

Emmanuel reminds us in the book Thinking and Life, chapter 4, that "two wings will lead the Human Spirit into the presence of God. One is called love; the other, wisdom. Through love, which, above all, is to serve others, the creature becomes enlightened and beautiful inside, reflecting on others its own virtues; and through wisdom - which begins by acquiring knowledge - the creature is influenced by the vanguard of progress, who communicate and reflect on it their own greatness, impelling it to the Highest. "Here one sees the importance of being always attentive and ready for change. Let us imagine that the High is full of data not yet grasped by the Human Spirit and this will only happen when it is ready to change permanently.

Neuroplasticity and neuromodeling have an important role in altering the state of excitability of the brain and regulating behavioral states. Let us continue by extracting from Science its precious information: "The ability of the brain to undergo synaptic changes makes the neural circuits capable of transformation, and it is this unique feature that is in the base of learning and of memory. This is a constant and continuous process, since it is necessarily linked to an adaptation to the surrounding environment and the new experiences that are emerging".

Our physical bodies may undergo changes not inherited

Here we can think about the studies of the Gospel and of the Spiritist Doctrine. As we learn the theory, we modify behaviors and these change our synapses and neuronal constructions. Within a certain time the Spirit, attentive and stimulated by the changes, automates its contents and becomes Christian without being labelled as the Christian truth, because it is appropriated in itself. It changes categories as indicated by Allan Kardec in The Book of the Spirits, question 110.

Now let us see that at the basis of the process of learning and storage of memory is the Hebbian process of neuroplasticity which implies more persistence on the part of the modifying agent, the Spirit. Hence we realize that faith and perseverance must be together so that we may seriously transform ourselves and change our interior. Jesus told us to let our light shine. Emmanuel tells us that "the lesson of Jesus must be applied in all conditions, every day". Thus, in accordance with the Science that requires persistence so that the neural networks modify and establish as a new pattern of behavior. Then the act of evangelizing passes through theological, philosophical, and scientific principles. It is theological because of the necessity that the creature feels, at a certain moment of its evolution, to connect definitively with the Creator; hence the effort of change.

And it is philosophical because it needs to acquire knowledge to operate such a change in itself; and scientific as an empirical element necessary for the consolidation of experience.

Along with neuroscience and neuroplasticity, we also rely on epigenetic information. The term "epigenetic" originates in Greek, where "epi" means "above, near," and studies changes in the functions of genes without altering the base sequences of the DNA molecule. In other words, it means that our physical bodies may undergo changes not inherited from our ancestors.

To live in glory with the Lord is to be one in two.

In this way, the Spirit modifies its structure both in the brain and in the organism as a whole, according to its options, behaviors and decisions. Epigenetics is a new study and corroborates what Emmanuel had already said in 1958 when the book Life and Thought was released. It is in chapter 5: "The human body, properly studied, has revealed itself, no longer as a cohesive matter, but as a kind of energetic vehicle, structured in infinitesimal particles that attract and repel each other with the effect of microscopic explosions of light. In the intimacy of this glorious energy empire we have the mental rays conditioning the elements in which life expresses itself"; explosions of light, mental rays, conditioning of elements, all this being lived and altered by the options of the manager, who is the Spirit. We change our brains and organisms according to what we want. It is always good that we remember the words of Jesus when he told us that God is fair and gives to each according to his works.

If I wish a confused brain, I just have to allow myself to be confused. If I wish for a sick or poor body, it is enough to behave like a patient and in bad shape. "Let us therefore be always looking for what is good, helping, learning, serving, apologizing and loving, for in this attitude we will reflect the enlightened,  resolving safely our problems of companionship" - Emmanuel tells us in chapter 8 of the book Thought and Life.
In fact, those who accompany us reflect on us what they are and, in turn, we reflect on them what we are, in a permanent exchange of enrichments of evil or good. Sincerely wishing to live in the glory of the Lord, I need to seek His presence, and His company. This I can do, I can change, empower and be another from myself, since to live in glory with the Lord is to be one in two, as Jesus told us: "I and the Father are one". (John 10:30)
